The wick is the part of a candle nobody thinks about until it fails. Too thin, and the candle tunnels, leaving a wall of unused wax. Too thick, and it smokes and mushrooms. Plant waxes make this harder, because they burn differently from paraffin.
We tested cotton wicks, wood wicks and several braided blends across three vessel sizes. Each test ran for the full life of the candle, in a room with normal airflow, with notes taken every hour of burn time.
The result is boring in the best way: a flat-braided cotton wick, sized specifically for each vessel, with no additives. It burns evenly, it does not smoke when trimmed and it does not do anything surprising.
We will keep testing as the collection grows. If a vessel changes, the wick is re-tested from the start.
